Groups are one of the key ways we connect with each other, grow in faith, make friends, and do life together.

Groups are gatherings of people (some groups meet in person and some online) who meet weekly or fortnightly during term time across Fiveways and Hollingdean to worship, pray and read the Bible together.

We would love to help you connect into a Group at St Matthias. Have a look and sign up to one of our groups below, and we'll be in touch with the details.

  Go Group Anderson

Cathy and Larry have been a part of St Matthias for a couple of years and they have a passion to gather the young adults of the church to encourage and nurture their faith. If you want to connect and grow in your faith with other young adults, whether you're a student in Brighton or young professional this is the group for you.

Meets fortnightly on Thursday's at 19:30

 Gromore Group

Sue, the Group Pastor, has been an integral part of the St Matthias Community since 2018. This is a supportive Group comprising those who are working and retired. Their evenings together are an opportunity for all to share, discuss the Bible passage from one of the previous Sunday services, and pray for one another.

Meets fortnightly on Thursday's at 19:30

 Avard Group

Sean and Ali invite you to a group for those living in the Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint area. The group meets fortnightly at 7.30-9.15pm on Wednesday evenings in various homes. It’s a place to form deeper friendship with others in the church and a regular place to 'spur' one another on in the faith. We will also aim to have social events/coffee/dinner meet-ups peppered in between - we want to have a lot of fun too!

Meets weekly on Tuesdays at 20:00

 Luke & Frankie Group

Luke & Frankie moved to Brighton in summer 2019 and have very happily settled in Fiveways. They are new(ish) parents to daughter Thea, and are really excited to build friendships new and old with the St Matthias community.

Meets weekly on Tuesdays at 19:45

Harley Group

Jon & Tara have been a part of the St Matthias family for the last couple of years, where Jon is currently serving his curacy as a Deacon in the Church of England. They have two young kids, a brilliant sense of humour, and a passion for serving the families and folks of Fiveways & Hollingdean.

Meets weekly on Tuesdays at 20:00

'Soul Food' Group

Soul Food is a weekly group open to all. The Group Pastor's, Kat and Doug, are committed to learning and growing in faith, praying for one another and the world, and sharing the trials and joys of life. The group currently meets online for regular socials to share food. Kat and Doug live in Hollingdean with their 2 children aged 3 and 5. Kat is a Clinical Psychologist running her own practice in Brighton and Doug is an IT consultant mainly based in Brighton but with weekly trips to London (when pandemics allow).  They moved "up the hill" to St Matthias in 2017 as part of the initial plant from St Peters and have been involved in many varied areas of church life since then from Dadventure to the Creative team.

Meets fortnightly on Tuesday's at 19:45

Palmer-Fry Group

Tim & Carrie have been part of St Matthias since being part of the original planting team from St Peter's. Along with their three kids, and two dogs, they have been heavily involved in Church life ever since, with Tim running Dadventure. They are local to Fiveways and are passionate about seeing people grow in faith and love with Jesus.

The Supper Club

A group for young adults to get together over supper, bible teaching and worship. Ideal for those looking to be part of a family in the St Matthias community, hosted at the lovely Jodi and Steve Luke's house.

Meets fortnightly on Thursday's at 20:00

 Time Out Together

TIME OUT TOGETHER” (TOT’s) meet from 10.00 until 12.00 every Friday in the church hall. It is an opportunity for the more mature members of our community to meet and to invite friends and neighbours along, especially those who live alone. The meetings alternate between “social gatherings” for coffee, quizzes, games or a “singalong” led by Sue, and “fellowship meetings” for prayer, Bible study, and the singing of favourite hymns led by Dave. All are welcome.

Meets Weekly on friday's at 10:00
