St Matthias is the Parish Church for Fiveways and Hollingdean. Anyone who lives within the parish, or has a qualifying connection is eligible to get married at
St Matthias.

Baptisms
Baptism is at the heart of an amazing journey of faith as a follower of Jesus Christ. You are never too old to take this step, and being baptized as an adult is a wonderful experience.
You may have been christened when you were a child and there are special ways to renew the promises that were made then in a fresh way as you discover more about what it means to live them out in your life.

Baptisms
In the Church of England, we often baptise babies or young children, who are obviously too young to understand what baptism means, and so the parents and god-parents of the child make promises on the child’s behalf. As these promises are between the parents/god-parents and God, we want to ensure that you as parents/god-parents have a clear understanding of what they are. For this reason, we will request a session together with you to explain in depth what the promises of baptism mean.
